My Scope Experience
17/3/09
Woke up at 7am to have my breakfast. Blaming on my comfortable bed, i took my breakfast quietly at 7.30am. No one in my house was awake at that time. My eyes were half closed. After setting my alarm clock to 8.30am, i smiled at myself and jumped into the bed happily to continue my half and hour beauty sleep.
Come 8.30am, I mixed one third of a bottle of 45ml sodium phosphate solution into a cup of water and gulp it down my throat. The taste was not so bad at the 1st serving. Went to sleep awhile. Next serving, 10 mins later. The salty and sour taste start getting so concentrated on my tongue. Went back to sleep for another 20 mins then my third serving starts. Open a new bottle of solution at 9.30am. Same serving interval. BAD, WORSE, WORSER, WORST.
Went to the toilet at the 4th serving onwards. From a normal baking session to a juice dispensing session. Drank a cup of honey and lots of water to chase the aweful taste from my tongue. Start to feel dehydrated. My mouth feels so dry. Sitting infront of the tv and laying on my bed till my mum nag me to change and report to sgh the earlier the better.
At around 1pm, my mum, my sis and i reached sgh. My appointment was supposingly at 3pm. I wasnt nervous innitially, just feel like sleeping as usual. Stepped into the centre and was shocked that it was quite packed, almost all the chairs placed there are occupied. My mum and my sis went to have their lunch while i continue to wait at the centre. Was quite hungry then. Waited for about 45mins before the nurse called my name. Asked me some questions and told me to wait for my name to be called out again.
When my name was called again, i was being tagged my name and number on my wrist like some undergoing slaughtering pigs and asked to change into the attire. And waited in the waiting area for the doc to attend to me. Not long later, the doctor (he) asked me in. Didnt expect there to be so many nurses and 2 doctors in the room, it is just suppose to be a scan should be easy and fast. Was asked to lie to my left in a certain position. It took the doctor quite long to locate my veins on the back of my right palm, lots of hitting and applying of alcohol on many areas before the needle was inserted. Wanted to see the procedure and my intestine but fell asleep when he injected the 2nd dose of something. Wonder if it was that my anesthetic wore off or it was superly pain and uncomfortable that i was awoke while the camera was in me and started figiting and grumpying. I remember i grabbed the nurse hand and she asked me to breath and relax. After awhile i slept back. Awaked after the while procedure was done and wheeled out. At the recovery area, i looked around and realised that i was the only one with the heart beat finger clip on and given the 'remote control' to press if emergency. Saw my mum and sis looking for me and i called for them. but there were not allowed to come into the recovery area and was shoo away by the nurses after awhile.
Almost the 1st to reach the recovery area and the last to leave. Given biscuits and a milk concentrated milo before i was being explained my results. OK, nothing wrong in my intestine except the sodium phosphate solution didnt completely clean my intestine to the expected cleaniness. haizz.. dirty intestine have i :(
Left the hospital at about 4.30pm. And slept immediately after reaching home. woke up at about 6-7pm. Still feeling bloated. Lots of air pumped in to assist the camera movement. The air stayed inside till about 7plus pm. And all back to normal the next day :) phew
